  Fund a Trail Crew Member for One Month

  Your $10,000 donation supports the wages, tools, transportation, training, and field operations needed to keep a professional VVMTA trail crew working throughout Eagle County. From clearing downed trees and repairing erosion to restoring damaged trails and completing new construction, your gift puts trained crews directly on the ground improving the trails our community depends on.

  Bring 750 Feet of New Trail to Life

  Trails aren’t built just to satisfy the desire of one person or group. There must be a community need for the trail to satisfy a specific use, form a new connection, or minimize impact elsewhere.  

  To create a new trail, we collaborate with land management agencies, such as the US Forest Service, BLM, private landowners, homeowners’ associations, and municipalities. This can require years of research, paperwork, negotiations, and execution. VVMTA facilitates the process and ensures the work is done right the first time – no corners are cut when it comes to building trails that endure.

  Adopt an Adopt a Trail Team for the Season

  There's a lot more to the Adopt a Trail program beyond showing up to a trailhead with a few tools and some snacks! VVMTA works all year long conducting team leader training sessions, stocking supplies & tools, scouting projects on trails with land managers, and compiling pre and post project reporting. 

  We've seen over 9,000 volunteers over the past 15 years, and each one of those people are more likely to care for and advocate for trails after seeing the real work that goes into maintaining this special resource.

  Fund 1 Local Youth in the Eagle County Youth Corps!

  This is more than just a summer job; it’s a chance for high school students ages 16 to 18 to make a lasting impact on the lands they love. ECYC crew members will be on the front lines of trail maintenance, ecological restoration, and environmental stewardship projects across Eagle County. Along the way, they’ll gain hands-on experience, explore career pathways in outdoor recreation, environmental education, and natural resource management, and grow as confident leaders in the great outdoors.

  With two two-week sessions each summer, participants work hard, learning fast, and exploring the mountains in a whole new way. Transportation, training, and gear support are provided, making this a perfect opportunity for youth ready to get outside, get involved, and get inspired.

  Equip Trail Crews with the Tools they Need!

  Whether it's a shovel, rake, pick mattocks, or macleod; our volunteer crews, paid crews, youth corps and Adopt a Trail teams all depend on our fleet of tools to get the job done. Your donation helps us care for the tools we have and replace the ones that have been well worn to retirement. 

   

  VVMTA maintains a sizable collection of various trail tools at our headquarters used by 75+ Adopt a Trail Teams, 25+ Seasonal Employees, and full time staff to maintain and build local trail. Your donation helps us keep teams in the field with functional and safe equipment.

  Spread a Culture of Stewardship at the Trailhead!

  Help spread the gospel of responsible trail use and public lands stewardship by funding a day at a popular trailhead by the trail ambassador team!

  Trail Ambassadors create a more welcoming, informed, and respectful experience on the trails. They connect directly with hikers, bikers, and other users to share trail conditions, answer questions, and encourage responsible recreation, helping people understand how their choices affect wildlife, the landscape, and one another. 

  Their impact goes beyond a single interaction. Through education, visibility, and small acts of stewardship, Trail Ambassadors help protect trails, support better user experiences, and build a broader culture of care in which people see themselves not just as visitors, but as stewards of the places they enjoy. 

  Trail Ambassadors provide a positive impact by:

  • Welcoming trail users and create positive, approachable experiences for hikers, bikers, and families
  • Sharing trail conditions, maps, and practical information that help people recreate responsibly
  • Educating visitors about wildlife closures, trail etiquette, dog behavior, and trail stewardship
  • Encouraging small actions that protect trails, such as packing out trash, picking up litter, and respecting shared spaces
  • Improving the overall trail experience by answering questions, reducing confusion, and building trust through friendly conversations
  • Building a broader culture of stewardship by helping people see themselves as active caretakers of the land, not just visitors
