About SafeHouse Denver...

Established in 1977, SafeHouse Denver is the only agency in the city and county of Denver that provides a full continuum of care to adults, children, and youth experiencing domestic violence.

SafeHouse Denver works to eliminate domestic violence in our communities by:

  • providing shelter and counseling to survivors of abuse;
  • working with public and community agencies to improve the way our systems respond to domestic violence;
  • and by offering educational programming to prevent future violence.

SafeHouse began as a 16-bed shelter providing a safe place for women and their children. Today, SafeHouse Denver's shelter has 31  beds plus cribs, serving more than 250 adults and children in a typical year. In addition, SafeHouse serves hundreds more adults, children, and youth through non-residential services. More than just keeping survivors safe, SafeHouse services include individual counseling, advocacy support groups, and referrals to other services.

Our Mission...

SafeHouse Denver assists adults, children, and youth in reclaiming their right to a life free from domestic violence.

Our Services...

SafeHouse Denver's Extended Stay Program...

All proceeds from Sampling For Hope benefit SafeHouse Denver’s Extended Stay Program.

Launched in 2018, our Extended Stay Program is open to current clients who are out of immediate crisis but require additional time to achieve their housing goals. The six-unit apartment building offers families privacy and independence as they work on their self-identified goals and continue to heal from the trauma of abuse.

Our Extended Stay Program serves as a stepping stone to safe, long-term, or permanent housing for survivors of domestic violence and their children. This trauma-informed environment provides clients with safe, secure, rent-free, and independent living in fully furnished, two-bedroom/one-bathroom apartments.

The average length of a stay is one to three months, with extensions granted on a case-by-case basis. Like our Shelter, the location of the Extended Stay Program facility is confidential to ensure the safety of residents and their children.

While the Extended Stay Program offers independent living, residents can have regular contact with a Case Manager to support them in achieving their self-determined goals for stability. Services include individual advocacy-based counseling, support groups, and referrals to stability-related resources through our many community partners.

All services offered at our Extended Stay Program are available in English and Spanish.
