Event Information

Join us for an inspiring morning where we celebrate the endless possibilities that arise when students are empowered to reach their full potential. Through powerful stories of self-discovery, we’ll showcase how one-on-one academic, social/emotional, and future planning support helps students grow, build curiosity and confidence, and chart their own paths to success in a world full of new experiences and opportunities.

The Denver Kids Breakfast plays an important role in raising the funds we need to sustain our programming. While there is no cost to attend, a fundraising ask will be made during the program to ensure we can continue empowering students on their journeys to success.

RSVP required to attend. Click Get Tickets to RSVP, become a Table Captain, or purchase a sponsorship.

Honorary Event Co-Chairs:

Dr. Susana Córdova, Commissioner, Colorado Department of Education:

In June 2023, Dr. Susana Córdova was named Colorado’s 18th education commissioner and the first Latina to hold the state’s top education position. Prior to being named commissioner, Córdova spent more than 33 years in education.

A Denver native, she attended DPS school and spent almost all her career in DPS as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, director, chief academic officer, chief schools officer, and deputy superintendent before becoming the superintendent of Denver Public Schools. She also served as deputy superintendent in Dallas ISD, the second-largest district in Texas.

Susana earned a master’s degree in education from the University of Colorado-Denver, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Southern Methodist University. Her husband Eric Duran is an investment banker; her son is a high school teacher in Denver, and her daughter works in public finance in California. They are all proud DPS graduates.

Dr. Alex Marrero, Superintendent, Denver Public Schools

Dr. Alex Marrero has served as the Superintendent of Denver Public Schools since 2021. As the son of a Cuban refugee and a Dominican immigrant, Dr. Marrero understands firsthand and advocates for the diverse needs of his students.

Under his leadership, the district has achieved its highest-ever graduation rates, increased proficiency rates, and seen the implementation of its first-ever equity-based strategic plan. He established the Latine Education Advisory Council (LEAC) to enhance educational outcomes for Latino/Hispanic students, launched the International Educators Institute, and opened six Community Hubs.

Dr. Marrero's leadership has been widely recognized with several awards, including Superintendent of the Year by the District Administration Leadership Institute and the Colorado Association of Latino/a Administrators and Superintendents, both for 2024. His leadership philosophy is centered on empowering every student, regardless of their background, to overcome obstacles and become innovative leaders in their fields, reflecting his personal journey and commitment to educational excellence.
