T1D CHANGEMAKER AWARD
This year’s T1D Changemaker Award is presented to Lisa Corley, who has made tremendous contributions to the Children’s Diabetes Foundation (CDF) and The Guild for over 20 years—both as an individual and alongside her family. Throughout her long-standing involvement with CDF, she has taken on numerous leadership roles, including Co-Chair of The Carousel Ball silent auction and Chair of the Brass Ring Luncheon & Fashion Show. Lisa also led The Guild as President during the challenging pandemic years of 2020 and 2021. Her generosity of time, talent, and resources, paired with her commitment to building an innovative and supportive type 1 diabetes community, has strengthened CDF’s ability to better serve all those whose lives are touched by diabetes.

Lisa Corley, a Colorado native, possesses more than 25 years of experience in legal administration, law firm management, organizational behavior, and lawyer hiring and training. She worked with Kutak Rock; Davis, Graham & Stubbs; LeBeauf Lamb Greene & McRae; and Sherman & Howard over the course of her legal career.
Lisa is a passionate philanthropist and community advocate, with over 30 years of service in the nonprofit sector. She has been an active member of The Guild of the Children’s Diabetes Foundation for more than two decades and led as Guild President through the unprecedented challenges during the pandemic years of 2020 and 2021. Lisa was instrumental in helping transition Guild programming, fundraising, and member engagement to a virtual and hybrid environment, ensuring continuity of support for children and adults living with type 1 diabetes.
Throughout her long-standing involvement with CDF, Lisa has taken on numerous leadership roles including Co-Chair of The Carousel Ball silent auction and Chair of the Brass Ring Luncheon & Fashion Show. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Children’s Diabetes Foundation and A Precious Child. She has also previously served as a board member of Warren Village.
Together with her husband, Tom, Lisa manages their private family foundation and has contributed her time and expertise to a wide range of organizations, including Craig Hospital Foundation, Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Junior League of Denver, Kemp Center, Valor Christian High School, Adams County Head Start, and K’iin Beh Foundation, a nonprofit in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.
In her personal life, Lisa enjoys organizing family events, reunions, and vacations as well as planning and hosting gatherings for special causes, holidays, and friends. She and Tom have been married for 40 years and are proud parents of two grown sons, Alex and Spencer, who live in Manhattan and Brooklyn, New York.

You can catch Michael Spencer anchoring CBS News Colorado at five, six and ten every weeknight alongside his co-anchor Karen Leigh. Michael joined CBS Colorado as Sports Anchor in June of 2016 and made the switch to the news desk in April of 2023. His first assignment for CBS Colorado was at The White House covering the Super Bowl 50 Champion Denver Broncos as they celebrated their Super Bowl victory with President Obama. During his career in sports Michael has covered the Super Bowl, the NBA Finals, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and the Colorado Avalanche run to the Stanley Cup Final.
Michael graduated from the University of Missouri in 2010 and started his broadcasting career in Midland, Texas covering the Friday Night Lights of high school football. After Midland, Michael moved to Amarillo, Texas and then Knoxville, Tennessee before arriving in Colorado. Michael is married to his wife Hailey, and the couple have two daughters. Michael and Hailey enjoy being involved in the community. In addition to his role with the Children’s Diabetes Foundation and serving as emcee for the Brass Ring Luncheon, Michael has served as the emcee for The Carousel Ball, the Donor Alliance Donor Dash and the TAPS Colorado Celebrity Classic. He and his family love working with non-profit organizations that make a difference in the lives of families in Colorado.
