About Our Organization

Colorado is known for our mountains, glorious weather, and incredible affection towards companion animals. Here in Denver, we have vet hospitals and clinics, dog parks and bars, cat cafes, and numerous shelters and rescue groups. However, in rural areas, such resources are lacking.

Yes, we love our pets. But the sad fact is that there are not enough homes for all of them. Our shelters are overrun with perfectly healthy dogs and cats seeking their forever homes.

There are three primary reasons for this: too many litters being born; too few veterinarians throughout the state and lack of access to affordable spay and neuter services.

Our mission is simple: reduce the numbers through prevention. Bergen Spay & Neuter Alliance primarily collaborates with rural animal rescues and local government to provide care to over 2,500 animals annually. We utilize a mobile clinic to visit a different area each month. The clinic is fully equipped and staffed by two veterinarians, vet techs, together with 10 volunteers to help with scheduling and aftercare.

Since 2019, we have sterilized, vaccinated, and microchipped over 10,000 dogs and cats.

Our signature event, the Bark & Purr Gala will raise over $150,000 to help support these services in rural areas and small Colorado towns.
