About Our Organization

Since 1998, Horizons at Colorado Academy (HCCA) has been empowering students from under-resourced communities to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Serving over 225 students in grades PreK–12, HCCA offers:

  • A six-week summer academic & enrichment program

  • A year-round after-school program

  • A high school mentoring program supporting college & career readiness

We are proud to be part of a national network that nurtures the whole child and builds long-term relationships that fuel lifelong learning.

2025 Highlights:

  • HCCA students gain an average of 3.5 months of growth in reading and math during our six-week summer program this year.

  • In 2025, 53 percent of HCCA faculty, staff, and volunteers were HCCA alumni.

  • 100% of the HCCA High School Class of 2025 has enrolled in college this fall.

  • Students in the HCCA program have matriculated at the Colorado State University, Colorado School of Mines, Harvard University, Mesa University, Metro State University, MIT, Northeastern University, Pomona College, Regis University, Red Rocks Community College, Trinity University (TX), University of Colorado (Boulder and Denver), University of Denver, and University of Northern Colorado.

  • HCCA graduates pursue a variety of careers—from civil engineers and nurses, to teachers and entrepreneurs.

An Important Part of the CA Community

Horizons at CA is deeply woven into the fabric of the Colorado Academy community. Upper School students serve as tutors, volunteers, and interns, while parents contribute expertise in areas ranging from fundraising to community engagement. CA supports HCCA with substantial in-kind resources, including office space, curriculum development, financial planning, and more. This meaningful outreach extends CA’s impact well beyond its campus, creating lasting, positive change in the greater Denver community.
